Default Did Jesus appear to Mary after the Resurrection?

Although it is not specified in Scripture, it seems to be Catholic thought that Jesus appeared to his mother first after His resurrection. It seems to me that if Mary was living with John, and/or was with all of the apostles during those first horrific few days after the crucifixion and Jesus appeared to her, surely she would have shared that with everyone! At least John and perhaps all of the apostles would have known He was alive before Mary Magdalene came from the empty tomb to tell them that He had risen. But it's clear from Scripture that they didn't know. Does anyone have a possible explanation for this?

Jesus did not need to appear to his mother after the resurrection, and before the Apostles. I think she already knew on the grounds that she was very much in tune with God than any human that ever lived. But that that she already knew is conjecture that cannot be proven with scripture, but it can't be disproven either.

Read about the crucifixion. Jesus said that the apostle with his Mother Mary was to take his place in caring for her. The Christian network at the time were very close, I am certain that one of the other women or the apostle taking care of her gave her the news and as someone else said, she probably already knew.

Surely you aren't projecting onto Mary, Mother of God, what you would do.

Mary, perfectly sinless and perfectly obedient would do whatever God willed, as she demonstrated throughout her entire life, including remaining silent about the Resurrection if that were God's will.

Your conclusion about what Mary would do does not necessarily follow from the premise that Jesus appeared to her prior to the others.

Jesus instructed the Apostles to gather and wait for Him. But we know that He appeared to Peter alone (the scene is not described, but it is mentioned at the end of the Emmaus Road story and Paul references it when he's enumerating witnesses to the Resurrection. So Jesus certainly might have appeared to His Mother and have it not appear in the Scripture.

BUT - Jesus had made the point, multiple times, that the bonds of the Spirit were even more important than the bonds of familial love - and He told the Sadducees that in the Resurrection people live "like angels" - the reference being to marriage, but may be extrapolatable (made-up word alert!) to other family relationships. So if He met with His mother for the first time in the upper room with the Apostles and other disciples, that would not be entirely out of context, either.
