Default SSPX Update - Redux

Wow, 1000 posts. Anyway, Thomas said we could create another thread. There's some good discussions that were happening, I'd like to see them continue.

Yes I said that you could create the sequel.

You people are really bent on keeping me on my toes, aren't you?

I dare you to reach the 1,000 mark again.

Four more months of this. The other thread lasted four months.

What, are we getting heckled by the Moderator now?

To stay on topic - I found the line of thought intriguing that perhaps, due to indoctrination from an early age, the SSPX priests are not culpable for believing and advancing the idea of supplied jurisdiction because of a "crisis". which the Vatican says doesn't exist.

LOL. I think it is amazing we did such a good job. This is one of the most dicey topics on CAF and while we all have opinions we have done a good job of being civil. I think we should get some kind of medal that is by our name. We honestly do deserve some kudos but so does the moderator who has to put up with us and police a topic that is very volatile.

A big thanks to Br JR. Who may not be as right as he thinks he is but is one of the only reasons the thread or topic is even allowed to continue! Thanks Br JR, you bring civility and common sense to the forum.

Great analogy! And along with the cold air, we may be letting in a few too many flies.

Based on Br. JR's last post and the recent statements of Bishop Fellay, it seems that the SSPX is intent on playing a game of legalistic hide and seek to keep their "in, but out" status as long as possible. We may need to get used to that blast of cold air from the foyer.

The problem with waiting is that it isn't sustainable. For them to continue to function as they are, they need Bishops to ordain more priests. After the four current Bishops pass away, there will be none left. Unless:

1) They find other Bishops to join them, and continue the work.

2) Ordain new Bishops, and we saw how well that worked out for them last time.

Benedict knows this, especially #2, which is why I think there is a some urgency involved with this.

And aren't they (un)officially down to three bishops since Bishop Williamson was sanctioned recently?

No, waiting isn't sustainable, but I had was so hopeful over the summer that the reconcilliation would happen.

I have never been to an SSPX chapel/Mass. I do have friends who were involved in the lay movements of Legionaries of Christ (Regnum Christi). I realize that are totally different groups and situations, but the "brainwashing" atmosphere is the similar.

It is very hard to think of ordinary people being so isolated that they cannot see the true beauty of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church headed by the successor of Peter.

Endless dialog is used by the SSPX and the LCWR. Does Pope Benedict XVI have a papal hour glass? Other than that, I refuse to comment.

I was thinking of starting 6 or 7 threads all on the various nuances of the SSPX situation. OK with you?

Yes congratulations everyone! 1000 posts on a thread about SSPX is cause for hoopla! (Perhaps our friends in the Society should take our cue)

And thanks a million to Mr. Thomas Casey for his patience and forbearance. He only had to knock heads a couple of times, as I recall, and I had no idea he was watching us that closely.

And btw, whenever Br. JR gets crotchety, it helps to give him a virtual treat, like ice cream or a warm brandy.
