A Child is Born graphic novel by Billy Tucci!

You can read the article right here :

Here's a link to see the first few pages of it as well

The graphics at least in black and white look a bit like the art in the old Watchtower/Awake magazines or the old Wall Street Journals too for that matter.

This is a good thread. The concept also remind me a bit of the Classic Comic Books as well.

There have been several attempts to draw faith oriented comics in the US and elsewhere, they generally sadly don’t go anywhere. There was a comic company a few years back doing a series of lives of famous saints with art by a different well known comic book artist for each arc. Sadly they went broke. I’ve collected, sold and loved comics for many a year and sadly comics still seem to be over represented by superheroes, as much as I love that genre it is galling that (in the US at least) it seems hard for other works to really succeed. In recent years some other stuff has achieved popularity which is a good thing as it broadens the field.

The art looks well executed I must say. If a bit of a change for Billy Tucci, who is more famous for his creator owned Character Shi:-

Although despite the bad girl of art the series does touch on Christian themese quite often. Although the ultra-violence in it means it’s not really my cup of tea.

well i have great news! i asked Mr. Tucci:

Hi Mr Tucci.
I am a great fan of yours and i can’t wait to get my hands on a child is born! i know i will be giving this to a lot of people this Christmas (Christ-Mass) :)
I have one question, are you putting this part (below) of the story in the graphic novel?
–> (“Gospel According to Saint Luke [41] And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: [42] And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. [43] And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [44] For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. [45] And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.
[46] And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. [47] And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. [48] Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. [49] Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name. [50] And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him.”)

i ask this because there is a lot of people out here that like to call them selves christian yet the blaspheme God’s mother every chance they get and they also tend to ignore this prophecy.
it would be great to see a book on the birth of Jesus that actually put this part of the story in it, there is also and artist called Jack T. Chick that loves to do the same and take shots at the Church with his conspiracy theories in his comic books.

Thank you for your time and sorry to bother you.
-Dennis Chacon Neira

and he answered:

Hi Dennis! First off, you’re not bothering me at all! We do have the scene regarding Elizabeth and Mary and I’ll post that up today on the FB achildisborn page – I wouldn’t worry about the doubters though or let them get you down. I’ve never heard of Chick and don’t really care to check him out
Anyway, thank you and if there’s anything you need, just let me know!
