A few questions regarding child rape

#1

Something that has bothered me recently and has been stuck on my mind is innocent little children being raped and abused by old people. Its pure evil and I can’t seem to shake it from my head. Just the knowledge that sick people do this everyday and continue to do it everyday has me in a bind. It ruins my day knowing this and it leaves me with bad feelings every day.
I can’t understand the thought process that goes through people like this, knowing that their victims will suffer mental trauma and anguish most likely for the rest of their lives and more than likely never fully recover. I simply cannot understand how a man cannot do this to a child which leads me to ask.
1.) How can human beings perform such pure evil acts? Do they not live by their objective morals or do they simply refuse to ignore them? Do they not feel guilt or remorse?
2.) How can I combat this? What can I do to help? Im a college student and limited in my financial assets.
3.) How do I maintain my peace of mind knowing that God will enact proper justice upon these rapists and restore the peace to the victims. Are there any pertinent bible verses?
Thank you and God bless.

Psychopathy is a clinical condition where a person is unable to experience empathy or remorse. It also lowers inhibitions to varying degrees according to how high an instance of psychopathy one has. Neuroscientists have been able to temporarily reproduce psychopathy in otherwise normal brains. One person who experienced this described psychopathy as being like you’re drunk (with little or no inhibition, increased confidence, etc.), but without the accompanying cloudiness of mind that alcohol brings. So, you get all the effects of drunkenness, but you remain lucid.

If, in addition to being paychopathic, a person also suffered from the sexual disorders of pedophilia and sadism, it is easy to understand how a person could commit such terrible acts as child rape.

2.) How can I combat this? What can I do to help? Im a college student and limited in my financial assets.

You have a few options. One, you could directly combat this crime by choosing a law enforcement career (particularly federal like the FBI *). Some federal law enforcement agencies have specialized fields that focus directly on detecting these kinds of crimes (including detecting child pornography rings on the Internet).

Another option is more of a risk: you could go vigilante and try to detect activity like this on the Internet yourself. I don’t recommend this option as you are just as likely to get yourself in trouble.

You are better off just reading and learning warning signs of this behavior. Study criminology, etc. Raise your awareness. And, of course, you could make it part of your vocation to specifically pray every day about this. Do penance and take on mortifications. Hope this helps.

3.) How do I maintain my peace of mind knowing that God will enact proper justice upon these rapists and restore the peace to the victims. Are there any pertinent bible verses?

This is one of the reasons why the doctrines of hell and purgatory are in perfect accordance with divine love. St. Thomas says the blessed will not have their joy inhibited by the knowledge that some are suffering in hell. This is because they will be too busy rejoicing in God’s justice for adequately punishing such people as child rapists.

Even if some child rapists legitimately repent and get mentally healed, they will still have to go through some kind of penance appropriate for their crimes (whether in purgatory or in this life if their repentance is sufficient enough and they receive plenary indulgences; they will still have to suffer adequately in this life).*

Some really good suggestions. I’m praying for rapists and molesters and all victims…

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Sincerely curious—how does an inactive member ask a question on this forum?

When there is something that we know that occurs and we are not in a position to do anything about it, then pray for the children and for the people who do harm in this way. Leave it to our Lord Jesus Christ who is the Saviour and can heal anything as nothing is impossible with God. Our Lord loves the children and the offenders and desires their salvation.

I am pretty sure “inactive” means the user was created some time ago and has either never posted or has not posted for some time.

(* I am being deliberately vague because I am not privy to know how long *some time *is?)

How for that matter can some people torture and murder entire families?

It’s the same thing. People who commit these dastardly crimes do not think beyond themselves and their twisted compulsions.

If they are given the grace of repentance, they will still have to undergo penance or Purgatory.

And the grace of repentance is not automatic.

As the BTK killer was reportedly told by one of his victims: “God have mercy on your soul.”

Why do people sin at all?

I think “sometime” would be somewhere between the Big Bang and eternity! But I’m not sure though whether time will continue to be measured by us after the final judgment, so maybe it won’t be that long. I guess that outside of “sometime” will be notime!
