A job-related mental health prayer request

#1

Hi all,

As many of you know, I’ve been having severe difficulties at work, and it’s been affecting my mental health. I do have intermittent FMLA (time off under the Family Medical Leave Act, for all y’all non-Americans) because of it, but at the moment I feel a great need to be away from my job for a chunk of time. I just emailed my psychiatrist to ask if he would amend the FMLA forms and give me 4-6 weeks away to try to recover my equilibrium, maybe try out new meds, and at least keep myself from a complete breakdown (or getting fired, which would be worse!).

I would ask your prayers that he agrees, and for my emotional balance whatever happens.

I got to go to Adoration again yesterday and that definitely helped. That would be one lovely thing about having some time off – I could go every Friday, when they have Adoration, the rosary, the Divine Mercy chaplet and Benediction – instead of only on alternate Fridays when I already have a day off.

Thank you all.

Peace,

Francesca

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil.
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou among women,and
blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now, and
at the hour of our death.
Amen

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, as is and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell,
lead all souls to heaven, especially, those in most need of Your Mercy.
Amen

Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to Thy protection,
implored Thy help or sought Thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother;
to Thee do I come, before thee I kneel, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in Thy clemency, hear and answer me.
Amen.

Adding prayers for the intercession of St. Dymphna and St Lydwine of Schiedham…

Lord, I lift up my sister to you. Draw her close and comfort here…Open the doors for her to heal her emotions…Guide her and bring someone to help her…Give wisdom to those treating her…And even open up a new door where she could work at peace…Help her Lord to learn what your need her to through this trial in her life…And Lord wrap her in the peace that passes undrstanding…In Christ’s name I ask…amen…

Been in your shoes…

Thank you all. You’re the best.

I’m puzzled as to why I’d not have responded to your prayer request, but I certainly will pray for you that everything will be resolved peacefully and rightfully for you.

Because it’s a new one! I just sent the email off to the doctor in the late afternoon/early evening here.

If nothing else, while I am waiting to hear back I feel a sense of relief in having sent him my request, and a sense of hope that it will work out. It’s definitely a much nicer feeling than the knot of despair!!!

Peace,

Francesca

Well… I heard back from my psychiatrist. He emailed, “I will need to see you to re-evaluate what’s going on. Please make an appointment.” While I can’t blame him for not just saying, “Yes, no problem, bring me the forms,” I have a feeling from my earlier interactions with him that he will not see the depths of my despair and he won’t sign me off.

Which will mean returning to a truly horrific situation with no way out and no light at the end of the tunnel.

I’ve been trying to spend some time every day job-hunting but it’s discouraging.

I’m feeling rather despairing at the moment.

My appointment is tomorrow at 8 AM. I am only somewhat hopeful he will sign me off, and a little concerned that even if he agrees, there won’t be time in the 30-minute appointment to fill out both the State of CA paperwork and my employer’s paperwork.

But we shall see. At least it means I won’t have to be in the office til 9:30 so. If I can’t get a respite from this job I will just have to try to look at it as redemptive suffering while I look for something new!

Thank you again for your prayers.

Peace,
Francesca

Jesus please rescue Francesca Gen from her impossibly difficult work situation. Please help her to find an oasis of peace as she seeks for reliable work with congenial and respectful work-mates and peace of mind in a work situation.
Please refresh her, and heal the bruses that remain in her mind and heart.

Praying all goes as you need it to tomorrow…

An update!

Thank you all so much for your prayers and kind words. I have two weeks off; will be going to a 3x/week 1/2 day outpatient therapy program while I’m off, and when I return it looks like I get to go back to my original assignment, which was much less harrowing.

My relief is utterly palpable.

Peace,

Francesca
