Hey everyone. Does the Church teach that there will be a Great Tribulation before Jesus comes back?
Sure they do. You might invest $6.00 in a copy of
Beginning Apologetics 8

Beginning Apologetics 8: How to Explain and Defend the End Times: What Catholics believe about the Second Coming, the Rapture, Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and Indulgences. (40 pages, $5.95)
It’s well worth it.
Short answer yes we believe in the tribulation however we do not believe in anything like a “rapture” event.
Please see freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2461003/posts for a short post by Paul Thigpen.
Also, I would recommend his entire book “The Rapture Trap” and also a book by Michael Barber: Coming Soon: Unlocking the Book of Revelation and Applying Its Lessons Today
They should pretty much anwser any questions you may have. Also, for more advanced reading try Carl Olsen “Will Catholics be left behind.” It goes into the doctrine of the rapture and pretty much shows how it was made up only about 200 years ago.
Yes. From the catechism, paragraph 675:
Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.
The final trial is also called the great persecution (tribulation can be called persecution) mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 24:20-21 as He answers questions about when the Temple will be destroyed and the end will come:
Pray that your flight not be in winter or on the sabbath, for at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will be.
Also, the Church is the mystical Body of Christ, and as such will undergo a Passion just before the end; The Passion of Christ is considered a type for what the Church will suffer.
God bless you.
I like the way it was taught to me in religion class. " The Church walks with Christ all the way to the foot of the cross."
