The dogma(s) concerning the Divinity of Jesus Christ was affirmed by the 7 Ecumenical Councils.
May Peace Be With You,
what is 7 Ecumenical Councils. What dogma. You are saying that this verse is not part of bible or you donot believe in this verse. Please explain in detail. Thank you
Jesus was wholly man, wholly god and part of the Holy Trinity. Basically, we believe God has three forms. Not three gods, but three different forms of a single God. The Father (Sort of like the big boss) the Son (Jesus, redeemer of man) and the Holy Spirit (inspires people, among lots of other things, mostly directly affects us).
I do not know what is your point, I read as far as that, but just FYI, what you are doing is called proof texting - taking a verse out of context and making a big fuss about it. That way you can prove almost anything you want from the Bible - the greatest idiocy including
Peter was addressing a large group of devout Jews from many regions, along with others from Jerusalem and the surrounding areas.
He was reminding those who had witnessed the miracles of Jesus that such power could only come from God-
He calls to mind the darkness that covered the city at the hour of Jesus’ death,
then he goes on to explain that Jesus was made Lord and is the Christ. and that He had been raised from the dead,-and It is His promised Spirit that is allowing them to speak and be understood by all.
The Jews clearly did not expect God to send His Son- he quotes from David…"then the Lord says unto to My Lord…"and the Truth became known to them.
Jesus came to reveal what had been hidden.
**22 You who are Israelites, hear these words. Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by God with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know.
23 This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God, you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.
24 But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by it. **
Verses from the Vatican Bible
We boldly and joyfully confess that Jesus did indeed die on the Cross for unworthy sinners and arose on the third day, thereby destroying Satan, sin, and death, ushering in glorious immortality.
And for that we love and praise you Jesus for ever and ever, O Immortal and Sovereign King of the ages.
Come Lord Jesus, come!
All of the above.
The seven ecumenical councils were councils held by the entire church over doctrinal issues from the 4th century to the 8th century. They helped maintain the orthodoxy of the church for centuries to come, even up to today.
Incidentally, if you study early patristics, you’ll find belief in the Trinity and a divine Christ from the time of the apostles in the 1st century well up to the time of Saint John Damascene in the 8th century.
Please donot conclude without thinking. Do you read what it says in Acts 2:22. Let me post it to you.
Acts 2:22 (New International Version)
22"Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.
READ IT WHERE IT SAYING JESUS IS MAN. proved me from one verse from bible that jesus pbuh said that he is GOD or SON OF GOD
You’re providing one of the most common but easily refutable logical fallacies in Islamic apologetics.
Christ simply saying, “I am God,” does not prove nor deny He is God. If I told you, “I am God,” does that mean you would have to worship me? A mere declaration does not prove anything. Furthermore, Christ may have never said the exact words, “I am God,” but neither did He say, “I am a prophet,” nor, “I am the Messiah” - so, according to this logic, Christ is neither God, prophet, nor Messiah. Also by this logic, Hitler wasn’t a racist because he never explicitly said, “I am racist.”
The fact is if Christ were a prophet, He would be a blasphemer.
Your brother will rise again…I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. [John 11:23, 25]
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” [John 8:58]
No mere prophet ever spoke this way - no prophet ever associated himself with the Resurrection, which only God could do, and no prophet ever stated that before Abraham existed, so did he - ie, he shared the same eternal nature as God. Again, if Christ was a mere prophet, then He was a blasphemer.
III. Jesus Christ Claims to be God
Matt. 4:7; Luke 4:12 - Jesus tells satan, “you shall not tempt the Lord your God” in reference to Himself.
Matt. 5:21-22; 27-28; 31-32; 33-34; 38-39; 43-44 - Jesus makes Himself equal to God when He declares, “You heard it said…but I say to you…”
Matt. 7:21-22; Luke 6:46 - not everyone who says to Jesus, “Lord, Lord.” Jesus calls Himself Lord, which is God.
Matt. 9:2; Mark 2:5; Luke 5:20; 7:48 - Jesus forgives sins. Only God can forgive sins.
Matt. 12:8; Mark 2:28; Luke 6:5 - Jesus says that He is “Lord of the Sabbath.” He is the Lord of God’s law which means He is God.
Matt. 18:20 - Jesus says where two or three are gathered in His name, there He is in the midst of them.
Matt. 21:3; Luke 19:31,34 - Jesus calls himself “Lord.” “The Lord has need of them.”
Matt. 26:64; Mark 14:62; Luke 22:70 - Jesus acknowledges that He is the Son of God.
Matt. 28:20 - Jesus said He is with us always, even unto the end of the world. Only God is omnipresent.
Mark 14:36 - Jesus calls God “Abba,” Aramaic for daddy, which was an absolutely unprecedented address to God and demonstrates Jesus’ unique intimacy with the Father.
Luke 8:39 - Luke reports that Jesus said “tell how much God has done for you.” And the man declared how much Jesus did.
Luke 17:18 - Jesus asks why the other nine lepers did not come back to give praise to Him, God, except the Samaritan leper.
Luke 19:38,40 - Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. If these were silent, the very stones would cry out.
John 5:18 - Jesus claimed to be God. The Jews knew this because Jesus called God His Father and made Himself equal to God. This is why Jesus was crucified.
John 5:21-22 - Jesus gives life and says that all judgment has been given to Him by the Father.
John 5:23 - Jesus equates Himself with the Father, “whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”
John 6:38 - Jesus says, “For I have come down from heaven.”
John 8:12 - Jesus says “I am the light of the world.” - 1 John 1:5 - God is light and in him there is no darkness at all.
John 8:19 - Jesus says, “if you knew me, you would know my Father also.”
John 8:23 - Jesus says that He is not of this world. Only God is not of this world.
John 8:58 - Jesus says, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Exodus 3:14 - “I AM” means “Yahweh,” which means God.
John 10:18 - Jesus says He has the power to lay down His life and take it up again - Gal. 1:1 - God raised Jesus to life.
John 10:30 - Jesus says, “I and the Father are one.” They are equal. The Jews even claimed Jesus made Himself equal to God. Jesus’ statement in John 14:28, “the Father is greater than I,” cannot contradict John 10:30 (the Word of God is never in conflict). Jesus’ statement in John 14:28 simply refers to His human messianic role as servant and slave, which He, and not the Father or the Holy Spirit, undertook in the flesh.
John 10:36 - again, Jesus claims that He is “the Son of God.”
John 10:38; 14:10 - “the Father is in me and I am in the Father” means the Father and Son are equal.
John 12:45 - Jesus says, “He who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.” God the Father is equal to God the Son.
John 13:13 - Jesus says, “You call me Teacher and Lord and you are right for so I AM.”
John 14:6 - Jesus says “I am the way, and the truth and the life.” Only God is the way, the truth and the life.
John 16:15 - Jesus says, “all things that the Father has are Mine.” Jesus has everything God has which makes Him God.
John 16:28 - Jesus says that “He came from the Father and has come into the world.”
John 17:5,24 - Jesus’ desire is for us to behold His glory which He had before the foundation of the world.
John 20:17 - Jesus distinguishes His relationship to the Father from our relationship by saying “My Father and your Father.”
Rev. 1:8 - God says He is the “Alpha and the Omega.” In Rev. 22:13, Jesus also says He is the “Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the beginning and the end.” The only possible conclusion one can reach is that Jesus is equal to the Lord God.
Rev. 1:17 - Jesus says again, “I am the First and the Last.” This is in reference to the God prophesied by Isaiah in Isaiah 44:6, 41:4, 48:12.
Rev. 1:18 - Jesus, the First and the Last, also says “I died, and behold, I am alive for evermore.” When did God ever die? He only did in the humanity of Jesus Christ our Lord and God.
Rev. 2:8 - Jesus again says, “The words of the First and the Last, who died and came to life.” When did God die and come to life? In our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
My appeal to all Christians here. One has declared all those verses which is written by man. I will warn you of all above verses donot believe on it. Because My Quran told me that jesus is not God or son of God. By that these are the verses which is man made. Please consider above verses with true faithful person. Thank you. May Peace & Blessing With You All. And I warn you also not to considered these verses the poster. Rest is up to you all.
You have done nothing but quote the New Testament - now you are saying that some verses are man made. You’ve just done yet another common logical fallacy found in Muslim apologetics.
To argue “Whatever the Koran agrees with is right and whatever doesn’t is wrong” is the purest form of circular logic. Furthermore, there is no evidence that these verses are man made, except the isolated opinion of a book that came 600 years after the original manuscripts.
But the Quran came after all of these things were recorded in the Gospels. What reason do we have to believe Muhammad that they are not true? We were even warned that false prophets would arise!! Satan is the one who wants us not to believe in Jesus - in His death and Resurrection. It is through His death and Resurrection that we are redeemed. Therefore, Satan needs us to not believe it - hence the Quran which denies it.
If you follow the link I gave, there are hundreds of more verses you can deny. Go read them, maybe Our Lord will wear you down.
