ACT gay ceremonies get Federal nod [CNAU]

The Federal Government will allow gay couples in the ACT to hold legally binding civil partnership ceremonies, adding a requirement that same sex partners must register their intention to hold a wedding.

Although the news artical never tells us what the ACT is, the federal government they are refering to seems to be the federal government of Australia. After doing a little reserach, I found the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). I think it is somewhat like Washington DC in the US, in that it is a territory set up to contain their federal capital, and that it does not have the full rights as a state, but at 910 sq mi it is quite a bit larger (Washington DC is 68 sq. mi).

As to the content of the artical, it’s another sad day.
