After Bailout, AIG Executives Head to Resort
After Bailout, AIG Executives Head to Resort

UPDATED: 11:31 a.m.
Less than a week after the federal government offered an $85 billion bailout to insurance giant AIG, the company held a week-long retreat for its executives at the luxury St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, Calif., running up a tab of $440,000, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) said today at the the opening of a House committee hearing about the near-failure of the insurance giant.
Showing a photograph of the resort, Waxman said the executives spent $200,000 for rooms, $150,000 for meals and $23,000 for the spa.
“Less than a week after the taxpayers rescued AIG, company executives could be found wining and dining at one of the most exclusive resorts in the nation,” Waxman said. "We will ask whether any of this makes sense. "
After reading this I am almost too angry to respond. What can be done about this greed and disregard for what we will all be paying for?

I am bumping this up because it did not show up on the New Threads page yet. Need to discuss this with people!

Well good luck discussing it. The story made me so  and I started a new thread wondering who is to blame? Maybe my thread title is misleading (**I am acutally a registered Republican) **because I was told in no uncertain terms that this little “party” costs us basically nothing - drop in the bucket so I should get over it. Greedy people? So what! That’s what I was told.

So yea… good luck.

We need to be angry. We need to be angry at the situation that allows this and make those involved repay the public. First though we need to fix the situation so this can not keep happening then we go after the money the public is due.

Sad and depressing display of greed at its best. They had no regard for the hard working Americans, espeically the one’s they stiffed with their poor and careless management.

Is our government in debt?

A. Yes, Waxman and fellow legislators just increased our debt limit to about 11,000 billion dollars?

Do Congressman party?

A. Yeah, their whole life is a party.

Conclusion: Congress and AIG execs. are both pathetic.
