Alcohol in moderation

Our family has always had alcohol during family gatherings, although there is alcoholism in our some of our relatives we feel we can use alcohol to celebrate special occasions in moderation .
I would like some opionions on alcohol as some people feel no amount is acceptable then why was it mentioned in the bible at weddings, Jesus did not seem to disapprove of it.

Alcohol consumption in moderation is not immoral. But we should avoid the abuse of alcohol just as we should avoid the abuse of any food, drug, or other substance. “The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine” (Catechism, 2290).
