Anger Over IVF Egg Raffle By London Bridge Centre And Genetics & IVF Institute In Virginia
The IVF offer aims to overcome a shortage of donor eggs and sperm
Anyone who signs up to the IVF seminar being run by the London Bridge Centre and the Genetics & IVF Institute in Virginia will go into the draw to win a complete treatment cycle worth an estimated £13,000.
The seminar and treatment will take place in America and bypass stringent British laws on fertility and a shortage of donor eggs and sperm.
As part of the prize would-be mothers can view childhood pictures of potential donors before choosing one based on their mother's profession, ethnic background, hair colour and qualifications.
Mohammed Menabawey, a director at the centre, said: "All we are trying to do is to react to changes in supply and demand and help them.
Heaven help us all.
But why not? Sperm, ova, fertilised ova are all bought and sold so raffled is hardly a stretch. What's next? spam e-mails offering discounts on implantation of soon-to-be discarded embryos?
