Another Pet is Dying

#1

I am losing anothe pet tonight and I am heart broken. I don’t want to hear about how pets don’t go to heaven. I want to hear from people who have lost a beloved pet. My dog is 17 years old and I think I am going to have to make a decision tomorrow to have him put to sleep. I don’t want to do this but I don’t want him to suffer. His name is Rocky and I ask anyone to pray for him.

Moved to Prayer Intentions forum. My prayers are with you and Rocky. God bless.

#3

May St. Francis of Assisi bless through his intercession your faithful friend Rocky.

Prayers for you as well.

My prayers are with you during this difficult and heartbreaking time.

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Thanks to all who responded. My vet just called and said there is no more hope and I have an appointment to have him put down at 11:15. I dread this but I know I have to do it for him. Thanks for yor prayersl

Take comfort in knowing that you’re doing the right thing, painful though it is. Be good to yourself this weekend.

It is now 11:47 a.m. (if you are in the same time zone as I) and I imagine Rocky is down. I pray his death was painless and that you can find healing and strength in Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at eucharistic adoration. You can talk to Jesus there at eucharistic adoration and share your sorrow at the death of your beloved pet. Jesus can fill the sad, empty, mournful part of your heart with new life and comfort, if you let Him. He can heal you and help you get over your loss with some time spent alone with Him. I pray you find comfort in Jesus. Amen.

Thank you so much. When I left the vets a woman I didn’t know came to me to hug me. I am so sad right now. I stayed with him while he died but it was painless. I stayed with him after the shot and it hurt me so muchl I loved that little guy so much.

They say dogs are man’s best friend. You really show me this.

I am so sorry to hear about this. I went through the same thing a year ago with my 16 year old dog. I wish there was something I could say but when you love something for that long and that much it is going to hurt. There is a group called CA Pet Lovers in the groups part of this site. It is full of fellow pet owners that I know will care about you losing a pet. Maybe sharing could help.

Amen.

You loved and cared for Rocky for a long time. And when his life was
ending you loved him so much that you knew it was time to let him
go so he could be free of pain and any suffering. I pray for you and
your beloved Rocky. I pray that good and happy memories of your
years with him will begin to ease your sadness and grief. Those
memories will always be in your heart.

#14

I’m glad that you were there with him at the very end. He loved you and you loved him. Your heart is bigger for the love you shared. I know it’s painful. There is a group here at CAF called Good Grief. Please go there if you need help with your loss or if you just want to tell some good caring people about your beloved Rocky.:console:

I’d be the last one to disparage your love for your pet or your grief at the loss of him. I’ve been an animal lover all my life and I’ve had many pets. And lost many too. My current four-legged companion is the best little buddy I’ve ever had. She’s been with me for six years now and I can’t begin to put into words all that she means to me.

From one animal lover to another, I’ll keep you and Rocky in my prayers. I don’t know what happens to dogs when they die, but I know they fill our lives with love and joy, and after death, they live on in our hearts and minds.

May the Lord richly bless you, your pet and your memory of him. Peace be with you.

I cried when my pets died too. And a loved pet is a gift from God.
And as they love the best they can, I hope they’ll have a place in heaven too.
For you in your sad time,

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now,
and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

#17

I ask the Lord to comfort you in the loss of your dog.

#18

Praying for you my friend. We have a dog we really love, she’s part of our family. I am so sorry for your loss of Rocky…

I’m so sorry, I know this is awful. I recently lost a pet, too. No words can make you feel better, but have faith in God.

Amen.

Glory be to the Father
And to the Son
And the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning,
Is now,
And ever shall be,
World without end.
Amen.

Saint Roch, patron of dogs,
We ask for your prayers.
Comfort Barilieu
And those who suffer from loss of pets.
And pray, too, for pets who are suffering
And sick or dying.
O Lord, give them recovery and peace
For they are our dear friends.
Amen.
