Protesters disrupt Catholic Masses in Las Vegas — VIDEO Las Vegas Review-Journal

These guys posted their videos on YouTube.

Keep in mind that this is illegal in most places and that you can (and should) counter such actions with an impromptu hymn. (one parish down south stood up and sang “Alleluia, Alleluia” to drown them out as several men escorted them out and called police.

I like the idea of the impromptu hymn!~ Great idea if ever such a thing would happen in a parish one was attending.

I think down on our knees calmly praying the rosary ignoring them would be a great defensive technique that that they would not expect.

They are seeking a reaction of outrage not calm and peace.

This is another good idea…

A few years ago, I saw a video of some protesters trying to disrupt a speaker at the Walk for Life in San Francisco. The speaker calmly said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we will now recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy”. The crowd started praying it and the protesters were gone in 30 seconds. Usually, Catholics don’t react in any way to disruptions like that, but maybe we should start!

A very wise reaction and a good example for all.

Perhaps in this age of infidelity and apostasy we should be preparing for more such events.

However, there is nothing wrong, IMHO, with escorting them out with force if necessary. They are thugs using Christianity as their excuse to terrorize a peaceful worship service. Meanwhile, hymns and prayers can also focus the congregation.

Is it just me, or does the narrator seem to have a middle eastern accent??

These protesters are fundamentalists. They have severely oversimplified the Christian faith, which is why Catholicism seems wrong to them. We have 2000 years of Tradition, magisterial teaching, and theology. They have an overly-simplistic interpretation of the Bible.

That’s one of the things ushers are for. In Vegas, a big parish might have security guards too, or a “sexton.” (The old minor orders rank of “porter” was also about security; they held the keys and locked or unlocked doors, and were also responsible for making sure that outsiders left at the same time as the catechumens.)

I was reading a post earlier, which state that these people are ex muslim, they truly misunderstand what being a Christian is, let alone why we have statues in our churches, i have never prayed to a statue, not seen anyone do that either. If people are taught a version of the Christian faith this is what you end up with.

These guys are a disgrace to all Christians.

If they ever bothered to fact check their preachers and teachers they would wonder how they ever fell for so much deception if they are supposedly being led by the Holy Spirit.

I guarantee you that I would rapidly and effectively escort anyone who tried this in my parish right out the door and call the cops on them.

Society is far too dangerous to just sit there and allow this stuff to go on. If they were armed then we’d be canonizing some new American martyrs.

We must be vigilant and aware of church teaching on legitimate self defense and the defense of others.

I would also point out that in posting all these videos they have contradicted scripture from Our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ Himself when in Matthew 6 he tells us,

"[1] "Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
[2] "Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
[3] But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
[4] so that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
[5] "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward."

I am only afraid their leader would escalate these tame tactics. Guns next? Or the leader couldn’t control the “passion” of their followers? Whenever people start disrespecting the beliefs of others and commence going into their places of worship, the alarm bells should start ringing. If pamphlets or slogans were distributed/discharged outside the Church, we could still be charitable.

The question is should they get the media spotlight

a) to stop what they are doing through embarrassment
b) unfortunately also giving them the undeserved publicity of their cause?

Good points and since we cannot know their intent then the only option is to engage them early on and immediately begin moving them to the exit while someone gets the police on the phone.

I think they’ve got about as much spotlight as they’re gonna get and I would have to say that these are not the kinds of people to suffer much from embarrassment since they see it as some kind of crusade. They really don’t seem to have much of a showing in YT and there is still the matter of arrest, which they admit on video to knowing what they are doing is illegal and that they hurry to escape the cops.

These are not your standard run of the mill Bible Christians but some very messed up and possibly dangerous individuals.

We need to be aware of what is going on in our nation and at Mass and be prepared to quickly intervene to insure that such persons do not disrupt the Mass and also that they do not commit violence against Catholics or vandalism or desecration of the church.

Thanks for posting this Church Militant. It is painful to hear of this going on, but necessary to realize it too.

God bless.

Now for a brief quiz.

**So what do you think will happen to these alleged self-described “ex-Muslims” who are now “Fundamentalist Christians” berating these Catholics in their own Churches DURING MASS and on Catholic School grounds"?

(See link here) to see actual video of these fiascoes**

A. President Obama will go on TV and hysterically condemn this anti-Catholic bigoted disruptive act.
The local City Attorney will file hate crimes charges.
Obama’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch will go on TV warning people that this type of thing WILL NOT be tolerated and WILL be prosecuted to the fullest extent even by Federal law!
The local police will bring the FBI in, so the anti-Catholics can be put on watch-lists.
And these anti-Catholic acts will be logged into the Federal Hate Crimes “statistics” registry so they are taken into consideration in the future “analysis” of Hate Crime acts–all of these acts will be registered as separate incidents too.

B. Not much of anything.

More from the article (for the answer with emphasis mine) . . . .

No injuries, damage or arrests resulted from demonstrations reported Oct. 31 and Dec. 5 at churches downtown, just off the Las Vegas Strip and several miles east of the Strip, police Officer Michael Rodriguez said Friday. There was also a protest at a Catholic high school on Dec. 2.

“All of these appear to be linked,” Rodriguez said. . . .

. . . . Video uploaded to YouTube shows a few men, including two wearing T-shirts reading “Trust Jesus” and “Repent or Perish,” walking down a church aisle, handing paper religious tracts to parishioners, declaring Christ as savior and shouting derogatory comments about the pope and Catholic icons. . . . .

We must pray that they do not reach the extent of desecrating the Host. People may get hurt.

Nothing much so far…:frowning:

get hurt.If I am around anyway…though I live a long way from Vegas.

I always sit near the front at Mass and take note of anything that seems out of place or odd just in case. Fortunately we have a couple of cops in the congregation and they are allowed to carry, which is some comfort. I know that there are a number of people who are martial artists as well if needed.

I do thank God that none of us Catholics do these kinds of things to n-Cs. Charity cuts both ways…

Why DO we have statues in our churches I love them.

I would’ve been afraid they’d get violent

It’s not just you. I thought they were Muslims, but I think someone said they are ex Muslims.
