Apologetics Courses

I’m looking for good, easy to follow apologetics courses for adults to be used in the parish setting. Not just Catechism, but also defending the faith from objections, misunderstandings, etc. I’ve looked into Symbolon, but I’m not sure if that is really an apologetics course.

Mainly just looking for ideas/suggestions. If you have a suggestion, I would also be interested in the pros and cons of any of these.

Thanks

No, its not designed for Apologetics, but for catechesis.

But, with that being said, you might consider an ongoing adult catechesis instead of apologetics classes on the parish level.

A large number of Catholics are poorly catechized, and they really should be, especially before engaging in apologetics. They can’t defend the faith if they don’t know the faith, and well catechized members of other faiths, and atheists will eat them alive!

Peace and all good!

Here is an apologetics series we used at a church near my house:

It’s called the “Defend Your Faith Series.” You hand out the pdf files and go through the questions, looking up the Catechism passages and Bible verses as a group. It’s best for small-group discussion, but if you have a larger group you can break it up into separate groups and have them each look up different verses and explain how to use them to defend the faith.

Let me know what you think. I’d love to know if it’s like what you’re looking for.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Maybe a combination of Symbolon and the Defend you Faith Series would be the most comprehensive.

I’m not the decision maker for this project, just the information gatherer, so thanks to all for a point in the right direction.

God Bless you,

We’re using the Beginning Apologetics series in our parish, and we’ve really enjoyed it. We additionally look up the topic in the Catechism and related verses in the Bible (though sometimes, the whole verse is already in the book).

I’m going to be looking up the other recommended titles from this thread, as well.

That’s the series I would recommend as well. I don’t know the Defend Your Faith program but it is apologetics based whereas the other programs that other posters mentioned are more catechetical.
