Are Buddhists supposed to do/talk about this?

some Buddhists around me always saying praying a particular temple (they may have different ideas of which temple is best) makes prayers more likely to be heard. Does Buddhism consider this idolatry?

Nope. In Buddhism, if prayers are made, they are made to the Buddhas or Bodhisattvas, who are considered real beings who aid humankind and living beings as a whole. Some Buddhists might consider some temples as places where prayers are more likely to be heard by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, but that belief is not considered “evil” or “idolatrous” in Buddhism.
