Our family is having a statue of our patroness made and we will donate it to our church in honor of deceased loved ones who were faithful Catholics their whole lives. Of course our pastor has to approve of this statue before it is installed. Is there any requirements about this and any of these kinds of donations to the Church?
Just that your pastor approve the statue and allow it to be installed. My only suggestion would be that you dedicate your donation of the statue to all of your deceased family members, and leave off any mention of whether or not they were “faithful Catholics.” If this is intended to be an act of almsgiving for poor souls, then you ought to be trying to help as many of them as possible, without judgment to how they lived their lives.
