Are there ways to the Father other than Jesus?

At Mass last Sunday, the Priest stated that JESUS’ statement that “No one get to the FATHER except through ME” (John 14:6) has caused division in the world and that scholars have come to realize that this was written to help the church that was going through a difficult time. He insinuated that there are many ways to the FATHER. What is the Catholic Churches teaching on this issue?

Dear Doug,

Scholars can realize all day. Such realizing does not affect what the Church actually teaches. If Jesus is not the only way to the Father, what does this say about the His passion and death? There is notthing else out there that could possibly equal the sacarifice of God’s divine Son.
