Argentinean Evangelicals Protest Against Homosexual 'Marriage'

BUENOS AIRES, June 1, 2010 ( - Evangelical protestants in Argentina are joining their voices to the nation’s Catholics in opposition to proposed legislation to institute homosexual “marriage” in the South American country.

With the slogan, “For marriage with a father and a mother,” two Evangelical groups have united with the goal of collecting 50,000 signatures against the legislation, which has already passed the Chamber of Deuputies (the lower legislative house) and is now under consideration by the nation’s senate.

The two groups, the Christian Alliance of Evangelical Churches (ACIERA) and the Pentecostal Evangelical Confraternity Federation (FECEP), reportedly include 12,000 different churches in the country.
