Arian Catholic?

Eh? They’re still out there…

Most if not all the old heresies can be found today in various Christian sects, usually the smaller non-main stream.

They can’t STILL be out there, as there has never BEEN an Arian Catholic.

They can’t STILL be out there, as there has never BEEN an Arian Catholic.

Arius was a Catholic bishop in the 4th century. Arianism was an entirely Catholic sect until Nicaea, when it was condemned.

What this site is claiming is that the original Church was also Arian, and that the Arian controversy was the original Catholics lead by Arius battling a Trinitarian heresy, as opposed to the other way around. Which historically is clearly false.

But I have to hand it to them, at least they realize what to call their theology, as opposed to Jehovah’s Witnesses, whose preachers are not allowed to even speak of Arius of Alexandria :stuck_out_tongue:

There is nothing new under the sun, true, but most of these groups don’t claim to be the REAL Catholic Church.
