The eighth amendment of the constitution of the Republic of Ireland established the right to life of the unborn. On May 25 the government has established a referendum to repeal this amendment. If it is repealed, follow-up legislation would create unrestricted access to abortion, which “would make the regime in Ireland one of the most liberal in the world” when it comes to abortion, this bishop warns.
