Attending a non-Christian festival?

Can a Catholic attend a Hindu festival, so long as she does not participate in worship? My bf is Hindu, and he was asking me about this. My understanding is that it is okay to observe and learn about it on a cultural level, so long as you do not participate in worship. Is this correct? Or have I been misinformed? Thanks!

Yes you can attend as long as you are not participating in the worship.

You are catholic and he is hindu, how will you bring up your children?

I know it will be difficult. We have discussed this, and our children would be raised Catholic, but will eventually be educated on Hinduism. Of course, they will not be allowed to participate in worship…but I asked this question, because I wondered if it would be alright for me and my potential future children to see a festival, without participating in it.
