Authority of parents

How much authority do parents have over their children? Just curious here, because I’ve never heard a proper definition of it. How long do parents maintain this authority? How far over the actions or lives of their children does it extend?

i suggest reading the entire section of the Catechism devoted to the Fourth Commandment:

vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM

scroll down to the Fourth Commandment

Thanks for the link, 1KE, clarified a lot.:thumbsup:

@1ke -
any recommendations on reading regarding relationships with siblings? I have a sister with whom I choose to no longer have interaction. I love her, of course, but when we interact it seems to be a rather toxic relationship (in my opinion). I’m curious if I have an obligation, other than forgiveness of trespass.
Any advice would be welcomed.

I would be interested in this as well. :blush:
