Being physically and spiritually attacked?

I became paralyzed in an automobile accident in the early 90s. Of course, this has had its setbacks, but I was generally happy and had things under control.

On 12/21/12, I was letting my leg down in bed and felt the right side of my back pop. I knew it wasn’t good and really wasn’t sure what to do about it. This ended up shocking my whole system, which made mobility difficult. The strange thing about it was the date when it occurred. I hadn’t really thought about it until one day I realized the similarity in numbers. I typed in the date to a search engine and read the top result, which said “The beginning of the end.” This was the date that the Mayans believed a cataclysmic or transformative event would occur in the world. Well, it did happen to me. My body has not been the same ever since.

Everything was going great until that occurred. This has been a repeated pattern throughout my life, which I’m sick of. Now, I’m getting severe scoliosis on top of my paralysis and can’t sit comfortably. Potentially, I have a lot of years left to live. I don’t want to exist like this though. Struggling every day and repeating it is getting old.

I swear I’m being spiritually and physically attacked indirectly every time anything has ever gone good. Now I’m a shut-in who is buried in a deep dark pit that I can’t escape from.

Why are some people blessed and others left to struggle constantly?

Talk to a pain management doctor, an ortho doctor and a priest.

I am sorry that you are in pain from your accident, and that it has impacted your health as it has.

However, the date was just a date and nothing more. It was just coincidence that something happened on that date. Many people were injured that day, and every day. The world is still turning, there was no cataclysmic event that took place in the world on that date.

You should speak to your doctor, maybe get a second opinion on the latest that can be done for you medically, but your feelings of being spiritually and physically attacked are something you should talk to your priest about. Make an appointment with him and discuss what you wrote here. Perhaps he can make you see that your health, as it is now, is a result of your accident, and help you cope with the loss of your well being and dreams that you had.

May God bless you and comfort you with his peace.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us, and increase your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments, we might not despair nor become despondent,
but with great confidence, submit ourselves to your holy will,
which is love and Mercy itself.

I have struggled with a number of chronic ailments – including severe depression and crippling pain. Thank God I am now in remission.

God allows suffering. Nobody has a cake walk through life. The only way to make sense of your many pains is to unite them to the suffering of Jesus. (That’s what I had to do.)

Our Lord suffered a hideous death on the cross for our forgiveness. Many of the great saints suffered horribly. Think of all the martyrs. St. Thérèse of Lisieux died a horrible death from tuberculosis.

The devil doesn’t run the world. God does. Don’t fret about demons. Keep looking for medical solutions. Put your trust in God.

God bless you.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,

Jesus, help me!

In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:

Jesus, help me!

In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:

Jesus, help me!

In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,

troubles and sorrows:

Jesus, help me!

When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:

Jesus, help me!

When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:

Jesus, help me!

When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good

come from my efforts:

Jesus, help me!

When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:

Jesus, help me!

When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and

I am lonely:

Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-

comings of every kind:

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from

the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (TIM). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by

speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.

You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from

the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Mikey007’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
