'Biden Center' at UPenn Under Fire over Financial Ties to China

If true…not good…

All is accomplished by the accusation.

And note the sleaziness of the accusation itself, conflating gifts to UPenn, which houses the Biden Center, with gifts to the Biden Center itself.

One of the articles gets, eventually to the statement from UPenn:

UPenn spokesman Stephen Maccarthy told Campus Reform , “the University is in compliance with federal foreign gift disclosure requirements. As to their allegations regarding the connection of gifts to the Penn Biden Center, that is completely untrue. In fact, it is total nonsense. We have never solicited any gifts for the Penn Biden Center. Since its inception in 2017 there have been three unsolicited gifts (from two donors) which combined total $1,100. Neither of the donors were from China.”

The sleeziness never sleeps!

Breitbart:

The Biden Center at the University of Pennsylvania is under fire this week over its alleged failure to disclose millions of dollars in gifts from China.

Breitbart source, quoted , much later in the Breiutbart article:

Since 2017 alone, when the Biden Center opened and after Joe Biden announced he was running for President in April 2018, the university received over $70 million from China

I just laughed really good thanks.

There is no doubt the money was from China, given to the Biden Center, and appropriate disclosures were not made.

It hard reinforces how Biden sold his soul to special interests, especially foreign special interests.

There is no evidence to support your allegation in the stories here. Indeed there is a refutation.

That’s been a long time concern, donations from China to influence American universities. When I lived in Champaign location of the main campus for the University of Illinois and a leading American University for Chinese students, donations from China was a topic of conversation that would come up from time to time. It would not surprise me if the Biden center has received millions of dollars worth of gifts from China.

The Biden Center specifically is named in the complaint filed. Yes, there is a refutation by UPenn as well.

Why would that not surprise you.

And there is nothing in the articles that contradict that statement. What is the basis for, if there is any, for your suspicion about the funding of the Biden Center?

The article states:

“ The National Legal and Policy Center said in a May 21 announcement that “since 2017 alone,” the year the Biden center opened, it has received “over $70 million from China, of which $22 million were listed as ‘Anonymous.’” The complaint specifically names the Biden Center, which is part of the University of Pennsylvania. The foreign gift reporting, however, only includes a list of foreign donations, both “monetary gifts” and contracts, to UPenn and does not distinguish which may have been earmarked for the Biden Center.”

Of course the complaint names the Biden Center. That is the very point - to call unattractive Ceeter and Biden. But there is nothing in the article that suggests that the Biden Center received funds from China, let alone the millions touted in the article. This is just poor “reporting” from outlets considered questionalbe.

A complaint has nothing to do with reporting. Again the Biden Center is specifically named in the complaint filed by the National Legal and Policy Center.

So what? …

What is your question? Don’t believe the complaint or believe it. Or wait to see if the complaint is true or false. Not that difficult. Seems you made up your mind based off Breitbart reporting on the complaint filed.

Sweet! (10 characters)

This whole situation with China and our universities is a mess. They send a tremendous number of students here. The universities love it because they pay cash without quibble. No messing around with student loans or aid of any kind. Just cash.

But every one of them is charged with the duty to “report to the motherland”, meaning to some degree or another that every one of them is a spy. They’re in our research programs where all kinds of new technologies are developed, some for defense, some for health, some for business products. They are familiar with every nook and cranny of our cities, highways, railroads, airports, industrial centers, government facilities.

One thing China certainly did learn from the west; money talks.

I believe that a complaint has been filed.
There is no evidence for the merit of the case. It is hard to say that that filing is news worthy - aside from pointing to politics of such complaint making.

You are completely mistaken. The clarity of the situation comes from the Campus Reform.
The Breitbart reporting misrepresented the facts: the quote that I gave, particularly in light of the information in the Campus Reform article makes that abundantly clear.

There is no money from China. Just another Conspiracy
