The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) runs from February 14th through the 17th. Complete instructions are available on their website, and it’s completely free of charge. Just Google: Great Backyard Bird Count.
This project consists of four days of counting backyard birds, identifying them, of course, for at least fifteen minutes each day. Counts are then submitted on their online checklist.
There’s a precise protocol for counting, which the instructions will explain.
Get out your binoculars and/or spotting scopes and get those numbers in. Conservation efforts rely on this and other bird counts throughout the years.
