BOOK: Fear and Trembling by Søren Kierkegaard

Anyone read this? Or know more about the author? His name is familiar to me but I'm not sure why or who he is.

He's a very famous Danish existentialist theologian/philosopher.

I've tried to read Fear and Trembling several times, and it's great, but very 'chewy'. I got an anthology of his writings instead, and managed that better. I'm thinking of going back to F&T sometime soon, actually.

Kierkegaard was very critical of the (Lutheran) Danish National Church, and of "Christendom", or social, bureaucratic Christianity. Some say he paved the way for Nietzche.
