A wall doesn’t fix many of the ethical issues that we have, and is really wasted money.
Clergy can make professional judgments.
However, we are not beholden to their opinions. We are allowed to form our own.
For one, I think that we would be much better off encouraging economic growth and helping Mexico become financially solvent. Say, giving tax breaks to companies who move factories from China/India to Mexico.
Mexico is actually suffering the most. We’d really be better off building a fence at their Southern border since it’s not actually Mexicans who are the issue.
We also would do well punishing farmers who profit off of illegal, immoral and unethical labor from those here without permission. It’s a form of modern day slavery and farmers are willing to let produce rot in the field rather than pay even minimum wage. Most of those here illegal work for under $1 an hour, sometimes mere pennies. And they are working 12-18 hour days, 7 days a week.
