I'm actually very surprised by this news as well (in a good way). Obviously, a private business has the right to offer its service to whomever it wishes, but with the way that rampant political correctness has elevated the homosexual culture to almost being a protected class within our society, it surprises me that it isn't being branded as "homophobic" and being falsely tossed around as a "hate crime".
This is neither an endorsement nor a condemnation of the policy--I have no strong feelings either way--but private businesses in the United States do not have a right to deny services to whomever they please, and that has been the case since the 1960s. We, rightly, have equal accommodation laws, which prohibit discrimination on a number of grounds, including race, religion, gender, national origin, etc.
And, BTW, I fully agree that most pedophiles are heterosexual.
The Boy Scouts are not a business--they are a non-profit organization, and fall under the rules for 'fraternal organizations', which mostly have a right to associate, or not associate for any reason they see fit.
The term 'political correctness' is really not relevant in this context.
