Brannon Howse attacks Pope Francis

The Unbiblical Actions, Message, & Statements of Pope Francis While in America

Someone asked me on Facebook what I think was a very sincere question. They wanted to know what the Pope has said thus far while in the US that is contrary to the Bible. Here is a partial list just off the top of my head. I would ask you to add to the list and let us see how much we can come up with together. Here is my quick list of what he has said or his actions, and ceremonies have promoted:

:rolleyes: Just another excellent reason not to waste time on social media like that.

*He lets people call him his holiness but he is not holy but a sinful man

How do you know whether Pope Francis is holy or not. You don’t even know the man. I would say that on his worst day he better exemplifies holiness than most people I know…and if study of scripture, a life of prayer, and shepherding service to Christians is any measure then…:thumbsup:

*He holds up a cross with Christ on it but Christ is not on the cross

1st Corinthians 2:[2] For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

*Most every Catholic altar has a relic such as a bone from someone they call a saint. The priest will kiss the altar that contains the relic. This is total paganism

Show me this in pagan practice…and since relics have been venerated (not ever worshiped) since the early church this is wrong how? Nowhere does the Bible condemn or even mention this… See also Is Catholicism Pagan? and Relics

*He called down his false christ and commanded him to get into the wafer known as transubstantiation when he held mass in DC and will do the same in NY and Philadelphia.

Nothing more than typical anti-Catholic ignorant polemics. See The Institution of the Mass

*He promotes the false doctrine that the Catholic Mass can forgive your sins

Again gross ignorance…how can anyone trust someone who doesn’t know what he’s talking about?

*He holds up the Eucharist for people to worship which is idolatry

See The Eucharist IS Scriptural and The Real Presence

*He was preaching global warming but 2 Peter 3:10 says God will be the one that destroys the earth by real global warming

Oh please…Try to focus on a real religious issue. But I don’t see you or anyone else among you n-Cs preaching about our Biblical mandate to take care of our common home.
See Pope Francis’s Environmental Encyclical: 13 Things to Know and Share

*He has been preaching social justice which is socialism which is in direct contradiction to Biblical teaching on coveting and stealing

Hogwash…Nowhere has Pope Francis said squat about socialism…and social justice is a valid part of Christianity.

From this weekends liturgy

Reading 2 Jas 5:1-6

*** Come now, you rich, weep and wail over your impending miseries.
Your wealth has rotted away, your clothes have become moth-eaten,
your gold and silver have corroded,
and that corrosion will be a testimony against you;
it will devour your flesh like a fire.
You have stored up treasure for the last days.
Behold, the wages you withheld from the workers
who harvested your fields are crying aloud;
and the cries of the harvesters
have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
You have lived on earth in luxury and pleasure;
you have fattened your hearts for the day of slaughter.
You have condemned;
you have murdered the righteous one;
he offers you no resistance.***

*He has claimed to be able bless people by laying on hands or crossing them

:shrug: Christianity has always laid on hands to bless or consecrate. How are you ignorant of this?

*He claims to be the head of the church

Wrong! That is not a Catholic teaching…

*He claims to be part of an apostolic line since Peter which they falsely say was the first Pope

If you disagree that’s one thing but try not to argue against historical facts. Origins of Peter as Pope

*He is calling for us to ignore our borders but God calls for borders and nations

And when and where did he say that? And precisely where is that in the Word of God?

*He is calling for global governance which again is in rebellion of God’s commands at many levels

Must’ve missed that too…Where was it again? Moreover…“global governance” is found in scripture.Revelation 2:[26] He who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, I will give him power over the nations, [27] and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received power from my Father;
[28] and I will give him the morning star. [29] He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'

*He forbids priests and nuns to marry and the Bible says those that do that are teaching the doctrine of demons. 1 Timothy 4:1Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. Then 1 Timothy includes some of those doctrines of demons and in verse 3 we read: “forbidding to marry.”

Really? See Priestly celibacy is unBiblical. NOT!

*He believes in indulgences (selling of forgiveness) which is a real money maker for the Church of Rome and a false gospel

This made me chuckle, since indulgences haven’t been sold since before the Council of Trent and I suggest that all of you visit this guy’s site and take note of how he charges for his “weekend” and for access to all his conspiracy theory anti-Catholicism. This guy is very expensive…so who is in it for the money?

*He went to the Shrine of Immaculate Conception in DC that is referring to Mary but she was not born without sin. Mary in Luke 1 says she was in need of a Savior. Only sinners need a Savior. In Luke 1:47 Mary said, “And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,”

Boy…you are way outta whack…
See Immaculate Conception and Assumption , Is the Doctrine of the Immaculate Conception a Catholic Invention? , and The Immaculate Conception in Scripture

*In his speech before congress he praised Thomas Merton, a mystic, catholic that promoted buddhism

So you reject that there is some truth in various religions? Granted the Catholic Church has the fullness of truth, but even you and the rest of the errant n-Cs have some of it right. Merton wasn’t perfect, but he was way ahead of a lot of other folks… See Can You Trust Thomas Merton?

*In his speech before congress he praised Catholic socialist Dorothy Day

:shrug: Again, she wasn’t perfect, but she fought for justice when we didn’t hear much from you n-Cs. See Is Dorothy Day considered saintly because of her support for Fidel Castro?

*In his remarks on the balcony of the U.S. Capitol he referred to everyone has God’s children. That is false. Everyone is not a child of God. There are only two camps according to Jesus in John 8. There are those that are in the camp of God through faith and repentance and those that are in the camp of Satan.

Oh …so you deny that all are called to salvation in Christ?
1st Timothy 2:[1] First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, [2] for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. [3] This is good, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, [4] who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Pope Francis held an ecumenical service with all faiths represented at ground zero in New York. Yet, 2 John 9-11, 2 Corinthians 6:14 and Romans 16:17 declares that Christians are not to take part in spiritual enterprises with those preaching another Jesus and another gospel.

Gee we pray with your people and we are damned for it …and if we don’t then we are damned for it…Have you considered that you own “gospel message” might be scripturally deficient? Probably not…

*He claims to be the vicar of Christ on earth and I could go on and on and on.

:yawn: Yeah? So could I.

I think you are arguing with a Jack Chick tract, figuratively speaking. I note the website has some sort of “Whore of Babylon” figure at the top. On cannot expect someone walking in darkness to see the light of Christ in a man like Pope Francis.

Good post Church Militant.

Remember: just because somebody is asking a question doesn’t mean they are interested in an answer.

Just think, we get to read his outlandish and condescending vituperations of others for only $74.99~!! Isn’t that grrrrr …eat? :cool:

Good work, as always, Mike! :thumbsup:

Agreed, another great post.
Thanks, Church Militant.

What the heck do you expect? A Catholic expecting sound doctrinal assessments on random internet sites is like a neurosurgeon going to youtube to watch a video on brain surgery before going into the OR.:shrug:

I agree…:thumbsup:

Yep, :yup: I’ve had that start with something as simple as “Hey, are you Catholic?” My Testimony

Thanks Carole. “vituperations” Man that’s a great word. I’d heard it before but never looked it up or heard it used in a sentence like that.

Even so…I think I’d throw my money off the nearest bridge before I paid somebody like this for the privilege of being misinformed and perhaps even lied to.

:blush: Luke 17:10

:rotfl::rotfl:Very true, but this time they crossed a line IMO.

If you ever do, just let me know when and which bridge. :thumbsup:
