I’m reading The Practice of the Presence of God and it is amazing. Do you know if Brother Lawrence has been considered for canonization?
Hello! Who’s Brother Lawrence? Lawrence of the Resurrection?
No. The Carmelites have apparently taken the position that not enough is known about him to push for his canonization, and that it’s not necessary to canonize him in order to get value from reading his works. This blog post sounds rather crabby on the subject of people wanting to make him a saint.
I reckon the Carmelites have so many good sainthood candidates, they will only pick the ones with the best chance of making it through the process, and some poor obscure cook doesn’t fall in that category, sadly.
