Can a blind woman become a nun?

#1

I have a good friend who wants to be a nun but she is totally blind. She has contacted several orders in her local area and none will accept her because of her blindness. Do you know of any orders that accept persons with disabilities?

I recommend that your friend contact the Congregation of Benedictines of Jesus Crucified at the Monastery of the Glorious Cross in Branford, Connecticut. This is an order of Benedictine nuns that accepts women with disabilities. This article contains more information about the order.
