Can a former adulteress become a nun?

An adulteress “by accident” - meaning the other party lied to her about his marital status. Now this woman feels a strong pull towards the religious life. Can she still enter a religious order with that kind of past?

Yes, if she is truely sorry and sins no more. There is something called The second Virginity.

Yes. The saying is “every saint had a past and every sinner has a future.” We are all possible saints. By turning away from sin and turning towards God, we give him the opportunity to grace us with even more spiritual gifts. Remember to pray for your friend during her discernment.

certainly, anyone can confess any sin, be absolved, undergo a conversion of life, and even eventually enter religious life. Plenty of saints have done so. btw you can't sin by accident, you have to intend the sin, so while she may or may not have done something sinful, it was not adultery unless she intended to commit that sin and did so with full knowledge and free will.
