Can dogs be cremated?

When your dog passes away is cremation and keeping the ashes a sin in the catholic religion?

Would burial be the right thing to do or what about having the body blessed by the priest then cremated then the ashes buried?

Thank you

Animals are not made in the image and likeness of God. Our treatment of them is guided by the principle of being a good steward of God’s creation. Cremation is not a moral issue for animals. You are free to choose whatever manner you find reasonable for dealing with the body of a deceased animal.
