Can one deract another faith group?

So I am Byzantine Catholic, and today while I was talking to a Roman Catholic priest I told him of the origins of an Orthodox church that was once in union with Rome but later split off. Did I detract this entire church on the basis of revealing this information? He didn’t say I committed a sin, but in my mind I did. Then again I didn’t even ask him.

It’s a factual account of an historical event, you’re fine.
