Can you recommend a book on the Reformation?

I would like to read a book on the Protestant Reformation. Is Reformation: Europe’s House Divided 1490-1700 by Diarmaid MacCulloch a good book on the Reformation?

I have not read that particular book, but if it is by the same Diarmaid MacCulloch who wrote The Reformation: A History, I cannot recommend it. MacCulloch’s The Reformation: A History received a two-star review out of a possible five stars by reviewer Robin Bernhoft in the December 2004 issue of Catholic Answers’ magazine This Rock.

For a good book on the Protestant Reformation, I recommend The Cleaving of Christendom by Warren H. Carroll.
