I must add - those people who are approaching the drug epidemic from prejudice, ignorance, and callousness - do you folks realize you’re contributing to and exacerbating the drug epidemic? The addicts and dealers are NOT the only variables - the general public is part of it.
When the public in general remains ignorant, hardhearted, and prejudiced, the problem grows worse. It creates a climate of stigmatization and hate.
Education is a HUGE part of treating the scourge of drugs.
Treatment, legislation, and education are the three prongs to solving the drug problem.
If you don’t need treatment and the laws in place are good for you, great. But remaining ignorant on the topic and spreading lies, misinformation, and harmful stereotypes directly contradicts the educational aspect.
I beg the people who refer to methadone as “addiction replacement”, the people who refer to addicts as “druggies” - go and READ. Go to the CDC website and educate yourself about what addiction is - and what it is not.
Be part of the solution - if you’re not part of the solution, chances are you’re more than likely part of the problem.
