Chelsea Clinton, who grew up in a White House dogged by scandal but one that also protected her from the media’s spotlight, credits her dad’s **“words and even more his actions” for teaching her right and wrong.**In a touching Father’s Day message that is part of a worldwide campaign to put the focus on men who’ve nurtured their daughters, Chelsea Clinton said he helped guide her effort to make an impact on the world.
“It is impossible for me to describe the extent to which my father has supported me, nurtured me and empowered me over the years,” she said on the video for the G(irls)20 initiative called “Fathers Empowering Daughters."
** “Through his words and even more his actions, he has always taught me the importance of doing right, by our family, by the communities that I have chosen to be a part of and, ultimately, by the world,”** she said, adding, “He has always challenged me to take risks, not unnecessary ones but the ones that are necessary to be the person that I want to be and to have the impact I hope to have on the world.”
Clinton is part of her parents’ Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.
The new campaign encourages fathers to challenge their daughters to achieve. It is supported by Radisson Hotel owner Carlson Rezido as part of a new global partnership with G(irls)20. The effort kicked off with tributes from Clinton, Richard and Holly Branson, and Shakira.
Chelsea said that Bill Clinton also taught her one of credos. "Certainly, one of his credos that I’ve adopted fully is that it is always better to get caught trying than to never have tried at all."
