Christian book burning in Raqqa

From Agenzia Fides:
The militia of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the faction that in several regions of Syria monopolized the armed insurrection against the regime in Damascus in recent days have organized a book burning of Bibles and Christian books in front of the Greek - Catholic church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Raqqa, the Syrian city which has been for months under the control of anti-Assad militias. This information was reported by the indipendent Kurdish Agency - AraNews, known for its critical stance against the Syrian regime and in contact with activists and informers that from Raqqa have leaked the news via social networks.
Remember that President Obama supports the Syrian Rebels.
(No, I’m not kidding)

(No, I am not calumniating Mr. Obama)

The Syrian regime was and is guilty of crimes against humanity. Would anyone care to argue that?

Perhaps those who would chide President Obama for supporting the rebels are guilty of the same mistake the President made: the idea that the enemy of an evil faction must not be so evil.

This is probably one crisis that the U.S., Europe and other world powers should have stayed out of completely.

Exactly.

Yes, but the American government has broken more international human rights treaties in the last twelve years than any other democracy. Quantanamo, extraordinary rendition, waterboarding, drone assassination of its own citizens without proof of crime, to name just a few. Does that mean Americans would be justified in commencing an armed insurrection?

There is little to chose between both sides in Syria. Don’t forget that Osama bin Ladan, was an American creation, used to fight the Russians in Afghanistan. How did that work out?

My response will be to not burn or deface a single Muslim text. I’ll also pray for these militants that the peace of Jesus Christ will enter into their hearts and so utterly change their lives that their conversion stories will be told for generations, and serve as an inspiration to Christians worldwide of how the Lord can turn even the hearts of those who hate Him.

Well, Obama hasn’t met a radical Muslim group that he doesn’t support or like at the expense of Christians in the region. If Christians got together to burn the Koran and hadiths, there would be world wide riots. Yet if our books are burned by them, the response is to shrug our shoulders.

That has been attempted by one lone pastor out of FL and the Christian response to him was to condemn the action. I think it’s going to take a little more than a nice prayer to convert people that get caught up in this sort of radical Islam. You do realize that there are automatic death sentences to anyone that leave Islam. It is a capital crime in Islamic countries to leave the faith of Islam. Yet when they kill Christians, destroy Churches and even burn our books, there is no outrage on the part of Christian community and you can see that based on some of the posts here.

Yes, they are so violent.

Perhaps they should be colonized by Christian powers. That would teach them a thing or two about ‘civilization’! Oh wait, that already happened.

Fortunately, all attempts of the Obama administration to get more involved in the Syrian war have fizzled. If Assad is able to annihilate the Islamist rebels before they wipe out ancient Christian communities completely from the Levant, it would not come too soon.

The purpose of this thread seems to be to bash the president which is an uncharitable purpose
