Good for him; I’m glad he’s speaking up. Unfortunately, I doubt that many of the German bishops are going to listen. I fear a large part of the German branch of our Church will split off and do just that: form their own church.
They have been “abusing the system.” Owing to the fact that German Catholics are forced by law to pay a significant Church Tax, they control vast sums of money which they use to promote their ideas. For example, they were major financers of the Amazon Synod which they hoped would be an opportunity to promote married clergy in the Latin Church.
Their Synodal Path is just a polite name for schism.
Thank God that there are still some whistleblowers among their bishops.
