Confession is also psychological

I just got back from confession. I love the spiritual forgiveness, but I also have to admit its nice to hear the words of forgiveness physically and psychologically. Sin is not just spiritual. so the cure can’t be just spiritual. It was such a good experience.

In a strict sense, that is true. The Greek word for soul is “psyche.”

So yes, the sacraments are “psychological”.

The book Whatever Became of Sin by Karl Menninger MD, the famous psychiatrist, touches on this. Published in the 1980’s.
