Contraception/NFP for health reasons?

What if a married woman can conceive, but cannot survive pregnancy for health reasons? Is it morally permissible to use contraception, or even NFP, to prevent conception, and continue to have intercourse?

If NFP is permissible in this case, what should she do if she conceives?

I have heard several conflicting opinions on this, I am looking for official Church teaching.

From what a priest told me it is NEVER allowable to contracept artificially with the intent to prevent pregnancy, or even to use NFP with a contraceptive mentality. If contraceptives are taken for other health reasons, and infertility is a side effect, this is okay. God knows the intentions!

If a woman must avoid pregnancy for health reasons, NFP is morally acceptable. If she becomes pregnant, she better start praying. The possibility of pregnancy comes with the territory of sexual activity.

Hope this helps.

To postpone pregnancy for serious reasons (even indefinitely) one may utilize NFP.

If a person with serious health problems becomes pregnant, then they should take all precautions to have a safe pregnancy and healthy baby. What one may NOT do is procure an abortion.

I would use NFP with a most conservative use of rules if it is truly a life threatening issue. Phase III only if used correctly is extrememly effective.

Official church teaching: YOU MAY NEVER USE CONTRACEPTION TO REGULATE BIRTHS, end of story.

Their are soooo few cases where the health of the mother is in danger. Just think of it this way, is it ok to sin because you don’t want your body to get hurt??? NO WAY, it is never ok to sin.

God has his reasons for getting you pregnant, maybe he wants you to die a martyr.

Plus NFP is more effective than contraception, because how can you get pregnant when you don’t have sex??? that is a no brainer. We know when a woman ovulates, you can only get pregnant when a woman ovulates, if you don’t have sex on or around when she is ovulating…impossible to get prego.

Contraception on the other hand kills babies, it tricks the body into thinking it is pregnant and is not effective anyway.
