Could Mary have prevented Jesus' Crucifixion?

I seem to remember hearing once that there was a law that Mary could have used to prevent the Crucifixion of Jesus. I believe it had something to do with Jesus being her only child. Are you aware of any such law?

No, but even if there was such a law, the “handmaid of the Lord” who said, “Let it be done to me according to thy word,” would not have prevented her Son from fulfilling the will of his heavenly Father.
