Ridiculous! A birth certificate lists the biological parents of the child - those two persons responsible for the conception of the child, which can only be a man and a woman. That is just totally stupid.

The two requested that Louisiana issue a new birth certificate reflecting the adoptive child's new name and "parents," as is typically given after adoptions.

Try again. The article says that such a birth certificate is typically given after adoptions (I assume primarily closed adoptions). In a case with an adoption by a heterosexual couple, the replacement birth certificate still wouldn't be listing the biological parents. I'm sure you have plenty of other objections, but that one doesn't hold water.
