Dancing priests become Internet sensation

ROME (AP) — A video of a pair of dueling, dancing American priests studying in Rome has gone viral, following in the footsteps of a now-famous Italian nun whose Alicia Keys-esque voice won her a singing contest and a record contract.

The Rev. David Rider, 29, of Hyde Park, New York, and the Rev. John Gibson, 28, of Milwaukee, first shot to Internet fame when they were filmed in April during a fundraiser at the North American College, the elite American seminary up the hill from the Vatican.

Rider warmed up the crowd with a lively tap-dance routine, only to be pushed aside by Gibson’s fast-footed Irish dance. Soon they were battling it out, trying to impress the crowd.

Thanks for posting the link. That was so awesome to see!

They are amazing dancers. It must have taken years for them to get to that level of experience like that.

Great! I loved it!

Haha! very awesome!

Loved it!

LOVED THIS!! I watched it with my (five year old) aspiring dancer, three times in a row, this morning!

So awesome!! Love it!!!

I could be wrong but I don’t see how this would get the message across about Catholic teaching on artificial birth control or divorce. The polls show that many married Catholics today are ignoring the official Church teaching that artificial birth control is a mortal sin. How does this help Catholics to lead a good moral life and attain their eternal salvation?

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

What are we trying to save slows into? A country club for the miserable?

Awsome !! So much fun !!

Priests can’t have some fun?

maybe because they will see their priests as human and having other talents and interests. It also show that they are not stuffed up sour pusses. If one can’t laugh, one can’t cry.

They’re great and hopefully they’ll keep it at home and not try take it to American’s Got Talent auditions.

See video clip

Or should I say The Vatican’s Got Talent

You could be right on this. I may be wrong, but our eternal salvation is no joke, but is extremely serious business. But as you point out, this may have positive aspects.

Enjoyed the video… thanks.

Not bad. But not as impressive as the stamina of the late Father Liam Finnegan.

Loved it, thanks for posting.

Well done!
