Daniel O'Connell

Has the Church ever recognized the achievements of Daniel O’Connell in filing for and achieving Catholic Emancipation in Ireland during the nineteenth century? If there has, has there ever been any documentation that the Church would have recognized the good he has done for the Church in Ireland? This question was brought to light by the fact that I was going through my old English copy and came upon a speech I had written that was about me propitiating for the Church to engage in a process of canonization. Any answers at all to this inquiry would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you.
