Day 2 - Feb. 22 - Preparation for Consecration to Jesus through Mary

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today is Ash Wednesday and Day 2 of our Preparation for Consecration. How well this season of Lent which we begin today, helps us to enter the spirit of these first 12 days! We are seeking to empty ourselves of the spirit of the world, which is opposed to the Spirit of Jesus and of Mary. As we read yesterday: "The spirit of the world consists essentially in the denial of the supreme dominion of God; a denial which is manifested in practice by sin and disobedience". The first reading for Mass today encourages us, "rend your hearts and not your garments".

Yesterday's suggested reading to begin our preparation was from Matthew's Gospel and today's suggested reading continues Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. As we listen to Scripture we learn what God's Will for us is, we begin to know His Heart. Jesus tells us, "Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect...." What a tremendous calling is this universal call to holiness! He does not ask what is impossible, for He is our Way, our Truth and our Life. Coming closer each day to Jesus and Mary is to grow in the Holiness God wills for us. Our perfection is Love; it is union with God in charity.

Again, if you would like to ask any questions, or offer any comments or reflections on each day of this journey, please do. Let us please continue to pray especially for one another and for all who are preparing with us to consecrate themselves to Jesus through Mary, and for all those in most need of His Mercy.
