Did the Pope break Church law?

Did Pope Francis violate Church law by washing the feet of women in general and a Muslim woman in particular? My parish priest told me he did.

No, the Pope cannot break Church law because Church law does not apply to him. Only divine law and natural law bind a Pope, Church laws do not. The liturgical rule of who gets their foot washed on Holy Thursday is not of divine or natural law and thus the Pope is not bound by it.
