Do I have to take RCIA classes to get baptized?

I am Christian but was never baptized as the church my mother attended (The Christian Science Church) when I was a child does not perform baptisms. I have decided to become Catholic as an adult and I will be attending RCIA classes this year if it’s not too late to start since they started in September, but I was wondering if it’s possible to get baptized before the RCIA process is complete? I’ve heard from others that you can’t get into heaven if you’re not baptized and what if something were to happen to me before I completed RCIA?
