That is not what modernism is.
Modernism which was condemned by the Church had to do with the belief that as humans become more enlightened and evolved intellectually, it diminishes the dogmas of the Church which will eventually dissolve into obscurity.
Having emotions during a spiritual experience is not modernism.
In fact, anyone who believes that spirituality doesn’t involve emotions has no experience or knowledge about spirituality.
