Do these fall in to the category of doing evil so good may come?

lying to save someone’s life for example? or killing another person if they’re attacking someone else.

isn’t it kind of the same thing? you want a good result and you’re using a bad means to achieve it. or is it different since you are trying to prevent another evil?
